Real People. Real Recovery.

Stories from patients walking the road of recovery with Emmaus.

β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

By far the best place I've been to in 10 years. Emmaus has been a positive change for me. I'm treated like I matter β€” everyone here is nice and caring. I love that it's a non-judgmental place. I feel supported, and I feel that the doctor and staff truly care about my journey.

β€” Aimee, Johnson City
β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

My husband had tried two other programs. What's different about Emmaus is that they didn't give up when he relapsed. They just adjusted the plan. He's been stable for over a year now.

β€” Rachel, Wife of Patient
β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

Great people, they try to help. Best doctor I could have got. They will help any way they can. God bless all of them.

β€” Verlin C.
β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

If you're looking for a true 'home,' this is where your journey begins. You will be loved and cared for. Your voice will be heard. This is where love begins, and addiction ends β€” so pick up the phone and call.

Have Questions? We're Here to Help.

Common questions about treatment, insurance, and getting started. If you don't see your question, just contact us or call β€” we're happy to talk through anything.

Is Emmaus right for me?
For many people facing opioid or alcohol use disorder, Emmaus provides effective outpatient treatment options tailored to your needs. If you don't qualify for our services, we're committed to connecting you with a trusted treatment provider in your community. Your first visit is about getting to know you and exploring what makes sense.
What is Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)?
MAT is an evidence-based approach to treating opioid and alcohol use disorders. It combines FDA-approved medications with counseling and behavioral therapy. The medications reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms without producing a high β€” letting your brain stabilize so you can focus on recovery. MAT is recognized as the gold standard for opioid use disorder by the FDA, SAMHSA, and major medical organizations.
Does Emmaus accept my insurance?
Yes, we accept most major insurance plans including Medicare, Medicaid, TennCare, BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, Aetna, Humana, UnitedHealthcare, and most commercial plans. For those without insurance, we offer affordable self-pay options. Fill out our free Verification of Benefits form and we'll handle the rest.
What does treatment cost without insurance?
Our self-pay rates are intentionally affordable: $150 for your initial intake, $100 for weekly visits, $150 for biweekly visits, and $250 for monthly visits. We never want cost to be the reason you don't get help.
What kinds of substance use disorders do you treat?
Our outpatient clinics provide comprehensive care for a wide range of substance use disorders, including opioid use disorder (prescription painkillers, heroin, fentanyl), alcohol use disorder, stimulant use disorder, sedative use disorder, kratom and 7-OH dependence, and polysubstance use. Our team can assess your specific situation and recommend the right approach.
Where are your clinics located?
We have three locations: Johnson City, TN (1730 Old Gray Station Rd), Bulls Gap, TN (273 Hwy 11E Suite E), and Weber City, VA (2834 US Hwy 23 N). All are open Monday-Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM. We also offer telehealth visits throughout Tennessee and Virginia.
How quickly can I start treatment?
At Emmaus, we prioritize getting you help quickly. In most cases, you can begin treatment the same day you contact our clinic. Our dedicated team is ready to provide timely, compassionate care to help you take the first steps toward recovery. Don't wait β€” reach out today.
Do you offer virtual appointments?
Yes. We provide virtual addiction treatment throughout Tennessee and Virginia at all three of our outpatient clinic locations. Our telehealth services make it easy for patients to access care securely from home, helping you stay consistent with treatment.
Can I call Emmaus for a loved one?
Yes. Many of our first calls come from a parent, spouse, or sibling. We'll talk you through your options and help you figure out the next step β€” even if your loved one isn't on board yet. We also host a free family support group every Thursday at 7 PM EST via Zoom.
Do you offer support for family members?
Yes. We host a free weekly family support group every Thursday at 7 PM EST via Zoom. It's open to anyone who loves someone struggling with addiction β€” your loved one doesn't have to be in treatment for you to attend. Meeting ID: 973 187 3819, Passcode: 526THF.
Will my employer find out I'm in treatment?
No. Federal law (42 CFR Part 2) provides extra confidentiality protections for substance use treatment beyond standard HIPAA. We cannot disclose your treatment to employers, family members, or anyone else without your written consent.
I've tried treatment before. Will this be different?
Many people who recover have multiple attempts before finding what works. That's not failure β€” it's how recovery often unfolds. With medication support, regular counseling, and ongoing care, success rates are significantly higher than trying to quit alone. We're often where patients come after other programs gave up on them.

You Don't Have to Have It All Figured Out Before You Call.

Most people who reach out to us aren't sure what to say. That's okay. Just call. We'll listen. We'll talk through your options. We'll help you figure out what comes next β€” whether that's an appointment for you, treatment for someone you love, or just sitting in on Thursday's family support group.
