Telehealth Isn’t Plan B. For Many Patients, It’s the Better Option.
For some people, virtual care is the only way recovery is actually possible. No transportation. No sitter. No taking the morning off. No sitting in a waiting room. Just expert addiction care, on your schedule, in your space.
Virtual care fits if you

Have health issues that make leaving home difficult
Are recovering and want to maintain consistency while traveling

Common Questions About Virtual Care
Is virtual care as effective as in-person?
For most addiction treatment, yes. Studies show telehealth MAT has comparable outcomes to in-person care for many patients. Your provider will tell you honestly if your situation is better served in person.
Will my insurance cover telehealth visits?
In most cases, yes. Medicare, Medicaid, TennCare, and most commercial plans cover telehealth at the same rates as in-person visits. We’ll verify your benefits before your first appointment.
Can I get Suboxone through a virtual appointment?
Yes. We can prescribe and manage MAT (including Suboxone) through telehealth in most situations. State and federal regulations may require occasional in-person visits — we’ll explain what applies to you upfront.
What if I live outside Tennessee or Virginia?
Our providers are licensed in TN and VA, so we can only treat patients located in those states during your appointment. If you live elsewhere, we can help you find a trusted provider in your area.
What if my technology fails during a session?
It happens, and it’s no problem. If you get disconnected, your provider will call you on the phone to continue or reschedule. You’ll never be charged for a session that gets cut short by tech issues.
Do I need to be on video, or can I just do audio?
Video is preferred — it helps your provider read body language and connect more fully. But if video isn’t possible (poor signal, limited data), audio-only appointments may be available depending on your treatment type.
Is virtual care private and HIPAA-compliant?
Yes. We use a HIPAA-compliant video platform that encrypts all sessions. Your conversations stay just as confidential as they would in our office.
What Virtual Patients Say
“I’m a single mom and I work two jobs. There was no way I could keep up with appointments at a clinic. Doing this from my phone on my lunch break has saved my recovery — and probably my job.”

“Emmaus Medical and Recovery’s virtual addiction program made getting help simple and accessible when I needed it most. From the very beginning, their team was compassionate, professional, and truly understanding.
The convenience of virtual care allowed me to stay consistent with treatment while balancing my daily life. Even through a screen, the support felt personal and genuine. I gained the tools and confidence I needed to move forward in my recovery.
